Committee Reports:

Secretary: We’ve had so many applications lately, we aren’t exactly sure how many members but it is close to 106 plus 7 new members participating in Club Satellite

Treasurer: Right where we need to be.  Thanks John!

Interclub:  9 March at Grafton, next one scheduled for Williamsburg 21 April

            Club Meetings: No report

Community Service: We contributed a total of 60 hours and $3500 this past month in MedTran, Adopt-a-Spot, Flag Day, USO, Share,  Polar Plunge, school tutoring, Lackey Free Clinic, PAA, RSVP, EDMARC

Membership: The Board approved 9 new members.  John Roberts, Matt Burns, Penny Burns, Jim Crawford, Becky Walker, Elmer  Landreau, Gary Carter, Jim Tinsley, Mike Jacobson.  Welcome aboard everyone and thanks to those who did such great job recruiting.  Don’t forget the next Club Satellite meeting is 18 March, 7PM at Anna’s

Service Leadership: We had 8 Teenager of the Year applications which are being reviewed.  We’re still seeking scholarship applications

Key Club: Raised $1400 this month and gave $1100 of it to the VA Special Olympics.  Still doing great.

                  Builder’s Club: No report

Social: Committee meeting at George Hawes house 4 March, Thursday, 7PM

Public Relations: Need everyone who has a known Kiwanis event (committee meeting, service project, fund raiser or anything of interest) to please let Joe Discenza know so we can get it on the master calendar

Special Projects: Garvey Memorial Soccer Tournament is coming up in two weeks and we still have a vacancy for the Tournament HQs (Pat Garvey’s house) from 1-4 on Friday the 19th. This is easy duty so please volunteer!  Cornell is having a Pig Roast committee meeting at Anna’s on 10 March, 7PM

Human and Spiritual Aims: No report

Announcements:

*Kiwanian of the Month: Bob Jacobson for his quiet and steady support of MedTran, Adopt-a-Spot, Pig Roasts and most anything else that comes up.  Congratulations and thanks Bob!

*K Family reunion and workshops are scheduled for 27 March at Phoebus HS.  Registration is still open and I encourage everyone (particularly new members) to try and attend.  You will learn a lot about Kiwanis.

*Boy Scout Spaghetti dinner is 13 March at the church.  Come out and help them raise some money and have a great meal

*We’re still supporting the Salvation Army in their effort to provide more food for the local food pantries.  Please bring non-perishable foods to our meetings from now until the 27th.

*Kiwanis One Day is tentatively scheduled for 24 April to help clean up Poquoson Parks.  Put this day on your calendar!

*We have committed to putting on a fund raiser for our local Food Pantry and Becky Walker has graciously offered the use of the Briar Patch for our own spaghetti dinner.  We will need kitchen help, waiter/waitress help, bartending help, cleanup help and ticket sales help. Tentative date is Friday, 16 April from 5 to 8 PM.

*Please take a look at the Kiwanis International announcement at the end of the Kapsule and log onto the listed URL (online discussions) to vote for your preferred International Service Project

*Jim Horney made an appeal to signup in support of the Poquoson license plates.  They need 90 more names to get State approval

*We are in desperate need of more tutors for our Poquoson schools.  Please see Mike Hill if you can give an hour or two a week.  This is a critically important program and we need your help!

`           *We covered a significant amount of information at this meeting and if I have left something off the Kapsule, it was not intentional.  If I left something off that is time critical, please let me know and I will get it out to everyone.

Adjourn: Wishing everyone a blessed week.
